Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami welcomes China's Consul General Mr. Ni-Ruchi

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 7 February 2022 welcomed China's Consul General Mr. Ni-Ruchi. They discussed strengthening parliamentary relations as well as ties in other areas between Kurdistan Region and the People's Republic of China.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said, "We can learn a great deal from China's very successful experience, especially your economic success."

Consul General Ni-Ruchi said, "We want to strengthen relations in many areas, such as political, governmental, economic, educational and cultural relations."

They also discussed increasing Chinese and Kurdish language studies in their respective countries' academic institutions.

The barriers to closer parliamentary relations and exchanges imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic were another topic of the meeting.

It was decided to make plans for members of the Kurdistan Parliament and of the National People's Congress, China's legislature, to hold an online meeting, in order to build new ties and exchange knowledge and expertise.
