Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami welcomes Women in Leadership for Peace Group

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 9 February 2022 welcomed members of the Women in Leadership for Peace Group, who proposed creating a legal minimum quota for women in government positions.

At the meeting in which the chair of Parliament's Protection of Women's Rights Committee, Ms. Lenja Dizayee (KDP) participated, they discussed the importance of women's skills and influence in all sectors of society.

The Group said that they are advocating for a minimum quota of position for women in the Kurdistan Regional Government, just as there are already for the Kurdistan Parliament seats.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, expressed his support for the proposal and hoped that the group will succeed in their aims.
