Secretary Muna Kahveci chairs meeting on project to establish Turkmen and Syriac Academy

Kurdistan Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci on 7 February 2022 chaired a meeting with the KRG Minister for the Region for Minorities Affairs Aydin Maruf, the Preparatory Committee for the Turkmen and Syriac Academy project and several MPs.

MPs from the parties representing Kurdistan Region’s ethnic and religious components participated in the meeting.

Secretary Kahveci said that the Turkmen and Syriac Academy project is important and has hers and Parliament’s support.

She said, "Once it is sent, Parliament’s Presidency will try to prioritise this project, with the aim of further supporting and serving the different ethnic and religious components of Kurdistan."

She added, "Establishing a Turkmen and Syriac academy would serve the literature, art and culture of the components."

The participants decided to continue to meet to enrich the academy project.
