Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq and Organization for Promotion of Democracy and Human Rights discuss draft Kurdistan Constitution

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2nd February 2022 met with the Organization for Promotion of Democracy and Human Rights. They discussed defining rights and freedoms in the draft Kurdistan Constitution.

Speaker Faiq said that it is important for Kurdistan Region to have its own constitution and explained the discussions and steps taken so far to draft it, the need to form a new drafting committee as well as the areas where there are differences of opinion about the drafting process and the constitution's contents. 

The NGO representatives presented to Dr. Faiq their recommendations on defining freedoms and rights as well as women's rights in the constitution.

Speaker Faiq pledged to support those demands that are in the interests of and serve the people of Kurdistan.
