Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami bids farewell to Korea’s departing Consul General Mr. Choi Kwang-Jin
Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 17 January 2022 bid farewell to Korea's departing Consul General, Mr. Choi Kwang-Jin. Dr. Hawrami thanked Mr. Choi for helping to strengthen Kurdistan Region-Korea relations in many areas, and wished him success in his next posting.
Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that Consul General Choi helped to strengthen the close bonds of friendship between their two nations during his tenure. He thanked Mr. Choi for developing closer cultural relations, in particular, through his love of Korean and Kurdish drumming, music and singing.
Dr. Hawrami also thanked Mr. Choi for his support for building inter-parliamentary ties by arranging a Kurdistan Parliament delegation’s visit to the Korean National Assembly in 2019.
The Deputy Speaker said, “Kurdistan Region can learn a great deal from South Korea’s excellent experience.”
Consul General Choi said that over the 17-year history of their ties, Korea and Kurdistan Region have accomplished significant achievements, and that he will hold fond memories of his tenure here.
The Deputy Speaker and Consul General agreed on the importance of the keeping the momentum of strong relations between the two nations.
Also at the meeting were Dr. Rebwar Babkayi (KDP), chair of Parliament's Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee, and Janan Boya (National Union Coalition).
