Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with France's Consul General Olivier Decottignies

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 31 January 2022 received France's Consul General, Mr. Olivier Decottignies. They discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and strengthening ties between their two nation's parliaments.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami gave an overview of the forthcoming vote on the Iraqi presidency, and the ongoing Iraqi government formation process.

He stressed that despite differences between Kurdistan's political parties regarding political developments in Baghdad, all the political forces should remain united on the greater strategic issues that are in Kurdistan's national interest. 

Dr. Hawrami and Consul General Decottignies also discussed increasing exchanges between the Kurdistan Parliament and the French National Assembly and the Senate, to share knowledge and cooperate on issues of mutual interest.
