Kurdistan Parliament MPs pay last respects to Yazidi former MP Sheikh Shamo Shekho Namo

Several Kurdistan Parliament MPs, led by Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami, on 20 January 2022 at Erbil International Airport paid their last respects to Sheikh Shamo Shekho Namo, who was a leading figure in the Yazidi community, the head of the Lalish Cultural Centre and a former MP.

Sheikh Shamo was Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s adviser on Yazidi affairs.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and several MPs from different parties were at the ceremony at Erbil International Airport to receive the remains of Sheikh Shamo, who died after many days of illness with Coronavirus in Ankara.

The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Shamo’s family, Prime Minister Barzani, the prince of the Yazidiis Mir Hazim Mir Tahsin Beg, and government and political party representatives.
