Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets with Kurdistan Genocide Writers Union

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 10 January 2022 welcomed the Kurdistan Genocide Writers Union, led by their head Mr. Salar Mahmoud.

Speaker Faiq and Mr. Mahmoud discussed how the union can coordinate with Parliament, Government and academic centres, participate in international conferences to increase understanding of the genocide against the people of Kurdistan, and increase education and higher education documentation and expertise on genocide.

The delegation explained that they want to their union to be formed through the passage of legislation by Kurdistan Parliament, so that they can carry out their work on the basis of the law.

Speaker Faiq expressed his support for the request and said, "The support and signature of a minimum number of MPS is needed in order to present draft legislation. I hope that Parliament’s standing committees will welcome your proposal so that it can be put on the agenda of a Parliament sitting.”

Mr Mahmoud thanked Speaker Faiq for her support.
