Parliament passes Law on Tourism, holds readings of several bills
The Kurdistan Parliament on 27 June 2022 passed the Law on Tourism in Kurdistan Region – Iraq.
MPs voted on each article of the bill and the bill’s purpose. The bill as a whole was passed with 82 votes.
The purpose of the Tourism Law is to take account of the importance of the tourism sector for expanding the Region’s sources of revenue; to raise more awareness of the identity, culture, civilization, and history of the people of Kurdistan through tourism; and to emphasize the planning and implementation of a clear strategy for the tourism sector so that it makes a greater contribution to the nation’s economy.
Then Parliament held the first reading of these legislative proposals: The Syndicate of Healthcare Professionals in Kurdistan Region – Iraq; the Protection of Animals in Kurdistan Region – Iraq; and the Protection of Animal Rights.
MPs also held the second readings of the following legislative proposals and bills. For each article, MPs gave their detailed comments and suggestions, which will be taken into account in the voting reports: The Legislative Proposal on Adoption of the Federal Law on Electronic signatures and Electronic Transactions (Law No. 78 of 2012) in Kurdistan Region – Iraq; the Bill on the First Amendment to the Oil and Gas Law in Kurdistan Region – Iraq, Law No. 22 of 2007; and the Bill on the First Amendment to the Law on Environmental Protection and Improvement in Kurdistan Region – Iraq, Law No. 8 of 2008.
