Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Romania’s new Ambassador to Iraq Radu Octavian Dobre

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 8 June 2022 welcomed Romania’s new Ambassador to Iraq, Radu Octavian Dobre, accompanied by the Head of the Consular Office in Erbil, Horia Mihail  Petrescu.

Speaker Faiq congratulated Ambassador Dobre on his new posting. They discussed developing closer cultural and educational relations between the Kurdistan Region and Romania.

Speaker Faiq said, "The Kurdistan Parliament is especially grateful to Romania for your assistance in the fight against ISIS terrorists. We in Kurdistan Region value our relationship with Romania, and we hope that it will develop further in the future.”

The Parliament Speaker spoke about industry, agriculture and tourism, and hoped that the Kurdistan Region could benefit from Romania’s experience to develop these important sectors. The Kurdistan Parliament has passed law or is working on draft legislation to help strengthen these sectors.

Ambassador Dobre said that he looks forward to helping develop his nation’s ties with Kurdistan Region and all of Iraq.
