Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and UNAMI officials discuss next Kurdistan Parliament election

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 16 March 2022 met with Ms. Annette Lyth UNAMI’s Senior Women’s Adviser and Head of Human Rights in Erbil, and Mr. Francesco Revuelto-Lanao, Political Officer. They discussed the next Kurdistan Parliament election.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that preparations must be made for the next election, which is scheduled for 1 October 2022, including renewing or extending the mandate of the Kurdistan High Electoral Commission. He added that parties have different views about the Election Law.  

The Deputy Speaker asked the UN for technical assistance for the election.

They also discussed the political situation in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
