Parliament's Presidency hold meeting with heads of parliamentary parties
Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency, led by Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq, on 25 May 2022 held a meeting with the heads of the parliamentary parties to discuss resuming Parliament’s sittings in order to work on bills and debate important issues of the day.
Speaker Faiq, Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami, Secretary Muna Kahveci and the heads of the Parliament blocs talked about resuming Parliament’s sittings, which have not been held for some weeks due to disagreements about the next Kurdistan Parliament election.
The Presidency and MPs focused on Parliament’s priorities, including the subjects and questions that MPs want to discuss in the chamber and bills that have had their first or second reading and need to go through the next stage in the legislative process at a sitting.
On reactivating the mandate of the Electoral Commission and amending the Election Law, the heads of the blocs decided that in the meantime they will discuss these issues with their parties to find suitable solutions and try to reach a compromise.
