Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami welcomes Norway’s Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Espen Lindbæck

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 22 November 2022 welcomed Norway’s Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Espen Lindbæck, and his delegation. They discussed the political, economic and security situation in Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and developments in the wider region.

On behalf of the Kurdistan Parliament, Deputy Speaker Hawrami thanked Norway for its support for Kurdistan Region in the war against ISIS and for Iraq’s stability.

He said that Norway has successfully embraced many Kurds in the Diaspora.

Ambassador Lindbæck said that Norway is very concerned about Iraq’s security and stability and has been a partner for many years in the reconstruction of destroyed areas and the reintegration of IDPs.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Ambassador Lindbæck also discussed the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, and efforts to prepare for the next Kurdistan Parliament election.

The Chair of Parliament’s Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee Dr. Rebwar Babkayi (KDP) also attended the meeting.
