Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Norway’s Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Espen Lindbæck

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 22 November 2022 welcomed Norway’s Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Espen Lindbæck, and his delegation. They had a wide-ranging discussion about the political situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Speaker Faiq said "Iraq is at a sensitive and difficult stage, and the steps needed to reorganize the various areas of government have not yet been fully established. The bombardments of the border areas by Iraq's neighbors once again jeopardize the peace and stability of the wider region."

The Parliament Speaker said that she supports a strong Iraq and stressed that Iraq must protect its borders and sovereignty, and hopes for a better relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government, based on the Constitution and a true partnership.

Ambassador Lindbæck said that he hopes for the development of Norway's ties with Kurdistan Region and thanked Speaker Faiq for the informative discussion.
