Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes President of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Rashid

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 15 November 2022 welcomed the new President of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Rashid.

Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami, Secretary Muna Kahveci, and the Chief and Deputy Chief of Parliament’s Diwan also welcomed President Abdullatif Rashid.

Their discussion covered the political situation in Iraq and Kurdistan, the latest developments in forming the Iraqi Cabinet, and how to overcome challenges.

Speaker Faiq and President Rashid both stressed the importance of Erbil-Baghdad relationship based on the Iraqi federal Constitution, resolving outstanding issues by following the Constitution, creating the conditions for mutual understanding and initiatives to bring the parties closer together, and choosing dialogue over other alternatives for the sake of national unity and to protect Kurdistan Region’s constitutional status and Iraq’s territorial sovereignty.
