Deputy Dr. Hemin Hawrami welcomes India’s Ambassador to Iraq Shri Prashant Pise

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 4 October 2022 welcomed India’s Ambassador to Iraq, Shri Prashant Pise, and his delegation.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Ambassador Pise discussed parliamentary relations, Parliament’s current legislative priorities, and political developments in Iraq and Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that Parliament is currently holding the second reading of a major bill, the Bill on Education and Training in Kurdistan Region - Iraq, which consists of over 180 articles.

Dr. Hawrami and Ambassador Pise discussed exchanging knowledge and expertise between the parliaments of Kurdistan Region and India, and both agreed on the importance of parliamentary diplomacy.

Ambassador Pise was accompanied by India’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Subhash C. Kain.

MPs Dr. Rebwar Babkayi (KDP) and Edris Chonki (KDP), respectively the chair and rapporteur of the Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee, participated in the meeting.
