Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with Yazidi Prince Mir Hazem Tahsin Beg

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 23 October 2022 welcomed Mir Hazem Tahsin Beg, the prince of the Yazidis.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that the Yazidis are an original religious community in the history of the Kurdish nation, and said that the Kurdistan Parliament and Government will continue to support the demands and wishes of the Yazidi people.

Dr. Hawrami added that as an original component of the Kurdish nation, Yazidis’ rights and wishes must be taken into account, and based on the legal and constitutional principles their representatives should be appointed to Parliament and the Government.

Mir Hazem Tahsin Beg thanked Dr. Hawrami for his stance and said, “The Yazidis are proud of the Kurdistan Parliament. The Kurdistan Parliament and Regional Government have always supported and defended the rights and demands of the Yazidi people.”

Mir Hazem asked the Deputy Speaker to support legislative issues that affect Yazidis’ rights.

The head of the KDP parliamentary block Zana Mala Khalid and Mahma Khalil, a member of the Iraqi House of Representatives (Parliament), participated in the meeting.
