Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes High Council for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 25 October 2022 welcomed the High Council for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs.

Speaker Faiq and the high council representatives discussed the rights and privileges of persons with disabilities and special needs.

Speaker Faiq said, “The Kurdistan Parliament has placed great importance on protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and special needs through the laws that have been passed, in particular the Law on the Rights and Privileges of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs."

The representatives of the high council made some requests regarding the Bill on Education and Training, which is currently being prepared for its third reading and voting. They asked that students with special needs and disabilities are provided with the most up-to-date education that meets their requirements, and that these rights be set out in the law’s provisions.

Speaker Faiq commended the representatives for forming their council and working together on their shared goals, and said that other organizations should be encouraged to establish such councils.

The council members thanked Speaker Faiq for always paying care and attention to the passage of laws that protect the rights of persons with disabilities and special needs.
