Parliament's Media Directorate meets with US Consulate General's Public Affairs Officer Mr. Doug Morrow
The Head of Kurdistan Parliament’s Media Directorate, Mr. Saman Ahmed Bakir, on 22 September 2022 with his colleagues met with Mr. Doug Morrow, the US Consulate General’s Public Affairs Officer in charge of cultural, educational and media relations.
Mr. Bakir was accompanied by Rozhyar Ghazi, the editor-in-chief of Parliament’s website, and other colleagues.
The head of the Media Directorate explained their areas of work and responsibilities, including Parliament's website, social media updates, livestreaming of sittings, terrestrial TV channel, and relations with the press and broadcast media. He said that Parliament aims to be open, professional and comprehensive in providing information to the public and the media.
Mr. Bakir highlighted that this current fifth term of Parliament has been the most active in terms of its media outreach and presence. Parliament liaises with local and external media outlets under the provisions of Kurdistan Region’s Journalism Law, Law No. 35 of 2007, he said.
Mr. Morrow welcomed exploring areas of cooperation with Parliament’s Media Directorate.
Mr. Morrow was accompanied by Sarbaz Hamakhan from the US Consulate General, and Mr. Bakir and Mr. Ghazi were accompaneid by Vian Sami Abdulrahman and Sabat Abdullah.
