Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq in Duhok attends ILO workshop on the Labour Bill
Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq and MPs on 11 September 2022 in Duhok attended a consultative workshop on the Labour Bill, organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Speaker Faiq thanked the International Labour Organization for organizing the workshop and said, "In general, we appreciate such initiatives. I am sure that Parliament’s members and advisers will play an effective role in enriching the Labour Bill. At the same time, I call on the KRG Council of Ministers to send the social security bill to Parliament as soon as possible."
Parliament’s Legislative Committee and its Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights took part in the workshop, as well as the KRG Deputy Minister for Labour and Social Affairs Ms. Zakia Said Salih, and several Parliament advisers.
Participants made their comments and suggestions on the articles of the Labour Bill, which was sent to Parliament by the KRG.
Speaker Faiq said, "This bill is one of the most important, it should meet demands and expectations and can be enriched with the right comments."
The Speaker also noted the importance and impact of the social security bill, as complementary to the Labour Bill.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Rewaz Faiq said, "Part of this bill is derived from Iraq’s Labour Law, Law Number 37 of 2015, in terms of the main principles on labour, workers and workers' rights, which are exemplary and can be seen in the labour laws of many countries whose economic systems are similar to ours."
