Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes UK’s Ambassador Mark Bryson-Richardson

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 1 February 2004 welcomed the UK’s Ambassador Mark Bryson-Richardson.

The UK’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region Ms. Rosy Cave was also in the meeting.

They discussed comprehensively several human rights issues and the next Kurdistan Parliament election.

Speaker Faiq expressed her views frankly about the general political situation and the challenges and prospects.

Both stressed that the obstacles to proceeding to the sixth term of Parliament should be removed. Parliament is currently in its fifth term, which has been legally extended by a year.

The Speaker reaffirmed that the election must be held this year, according to the legislation that was passed to extend the current term and hold the election before 31st December 2023.
