Presidency of Parliament wishes the people of Kurdistan and Iraq a Happy New Year

We extend our best wishes to the people of Kurdistan and all the people of Iraq for a Happy New Year. We hope for a year of peace and prosperity for all, and that this New Year is a fresh start for improving people's lives and welfare, cementing citizens' rights and strengthening our national institutions, which were established through the people’s countless sacrifices.

We hope that this will be a year of peace and unity in our region and a year for resolving crises so that we protect and develop Kurdistan Region’s constitutional status - which was achieved through the great efforts and sacrifices of the people of Kurdistan – and so that we can strengthen civil rights and liberties and be of greater service to the people. We therefore call on all political parties and forces to act with greater unity and mutual acceptance and lay the ground for preserving Kurdistan’s constitutional rights and entitlements.

At the same time, the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Federal Government must reach a comprehensive agreement based on constitutional principles to resolve all the issues. We call on all the Kurdish factions in the Iraqi Parliament to work together to further consolidate the rights and aspirations of the Kurdish people.

We hope that 2023 augurs a new era of cooperation for a better and brighter future, further prosperity for the country, and an end to all suffering.
