Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes UK’s new Consul General, Ms. Rosy Cave

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 24 January 2023 welcomed the UK’s new Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Ms. Rosy Cave.

Speaker Faiq congratulated Consul General Cave on her new posting and wished her success in her duties.

They discussed the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the next Kurdistan Parliament election, the parties’ differences of opinion and the challenges facing the election process.

Speaker Faiq pointed to several important and sensitive technicalities of the next election and explained in detail the political parties’ views on the issues. She said that no party can succeed in amending the Election Law and renewing the mandate of the electoral commission unless they compromise and adopt a worldview that puts the nation first.

Consul General Cave thanked Speaker Faiq for her welcome and sharing her overview of the current situation.

They agreed on continuing to develop the historic Kurdistan Region-UK relationship.
