Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami receives Head of Canada's Embassy Office in Erbil, Mr. Colin Lake

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 9 May 2023 welcomed Mr. Colin Lake. the Head of the Canadian Embassy Office in Erbil.

They discussed the latest political developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the agreement between Erbil and Baghdad on oil, the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region and the talks on holding the next Kurdistan Parliament elections, and the positive resolution to Erbil-Baghdad disagreements through dialogue and negotiation. Both sides agreed on the need to resolve conflicts.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami stressed the need to hold the next Kurdistan Parliament elections on the set date, and he hoped that the political parties will soon reach an agreement on how to renew the mandate of the Kurdistan High Election and Referenda Commission and amend the Election Law, so that the election commission can make the necessary legal and technical election preparations.
