Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq chairs meeting on Legislative Proposal on Prevention of Torture and Ill-treatment

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 7 May 2023 chaired a consultative meeting on the Legislative Proposal on the Prevention of Torture and Ill-treatment in Kurdistan Region, with Parliament’s Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights.

The committee chair Mr. Romeo Hakkari (National Union Coalition), members and advisers discussed the details of the proposal and decided to prepare their report for the draft’s second reading at a future Parliament sitting.

The legislative proposal was submitted by the legally required number of MPs and had its first reading at the Parliament sitting of 1 March 2023.
