Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 30 March 2023 welcomed a high-level French Parliament cross-party delegation led by Mr. Pierre Laurent, Vice President of the French Senate.

The special committee at its first meeting decided that they will receive nominations from 5 to 12 April 2023 for new commissioners of the Kurdistan High Election Commission.

We condemn in the strongest terms the attack in Jindires near Afrin during Nawroz celebrations that killed four members of a Kurdish family and injured three people, who were exercising their basic right to celebrate their national day.

I hope that this New Year brings renewal, joy and the strengthening of love, tolerance, mutual acceptance and peaceful coexistence between all the diverse ethnic and religious communities in Kurdistan Region.

Nawroz always tells us that no matter how hard the winter, there is a spring that will overcome those difficulties. Nawroz coincides with the 32nd anniversary of the uprising and liberation of Kirkuk from the Ba'athists' brutality. I convey my best wishes to the people of Kirkuk on this anniversary and I salute the heroism, resistance and struggle of our people in this beloved city.

I hope that our cultural diversity and harmony will be renewed and continue to flourish, and that this beautiful celebration will strengthen the love and ties between all communities and deepen cultural networks.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 15 March 2023 formed a five-person committee of MPs to nominate candidates for commissioners of the Kurdistan High Election Commission. Parliament also swore in five new MPs to replace members who resigned.
